All About Sugar with Dr. Shah Ep #29

No shame in your sugar-loving game!

That's because it's 100% normal to like sugar; our brains are programmed to like it because sugar was once rare.

And sugar can actually be really important to human nutrition! It's fast nutrition we can store really well for later, so it makes sense for our bodies to like sugar and want to eat as much of it as we can.

In the modern world, though, sugar is no longer rare. There's an abundance of sugar now, and our brain hasn't caught up with that fact.

We no longer need to store as much sugar, so our craving for and enjoyment of sugar can sometimes be a problem for us in the modern world.

Knowing the history can keep us from villainizing sugar, and recognizing things have evolved can help us understand the importance of indulging in moderation.

You'll love learning all about sugar with me and Dr. Nikita Shah in this podcast episode!
